Ashes (from stove)
- Good for garden
Ashes are 50 to 75 % lime,so can be used to control pH leval in soil.If you sprinkle it evenly over the garden in winter you probably won't have to lime in the spring. As a bonus, your soil will get phosporous.potash,& other trace elements..
- Pest Repelent
Low ridges of ashes will repell slugs & snails in the garden.Circle individual plants and build embankments between the row crops..
- Ash can traction
Box of ashes in the trunk of the car during the winter would provide extra traction for the back tires & if you get stuk a shovel or tow of ashes under the tyres will give you the grip you need to get free..
